Card Shark, it would depend on a couple of things, the date of the course & is the course valid for that 1 event only, or for any event KCBS sanction? Oh and I'm competing in one of the SFandF teams at Smoking in the City, I'm guessing that makes me ineligible to judge?

....well you can't judge that comp but KCBS judging lets you judge any KCBS. Smokin uses a kind of KCBS system but is not KCBS sanctioned.

Yep, and in this country that's 2.
-
Whats the other event they sanction?
-

Not sure in KCBS land. Assume a yearly fee to stay on their list after paying to be trained. Have not done the course yet with either. Planning to the ABA one at Meatstock.

Well it would certainly be a very handy tool to have under ones belt as far as having insight into what judges look for...
If the course is run on either thurs. 21st, fri. 22nd or sat. 23rd then i would be keen to do the course. -

This sounds like a great idea to make opportunities for future barbecue masters.
Whomever sanctions dont really matter. However the "Holy grail" is KCBS ,,,,, Deep down you know it
Looks like KCBS just woke up with a fugley they will have to chew an arm off to get away from but I'm sure they will be back.
WA is so strong with BBQ at the core, I wonder why you guys dont pass on the eastern states Hipsters type turnouts and invite KCBS to these "peoples" festivals that are more compact and there is more than one beer brand involved,,,, or wine or what ever.
While I was an ABBQA board member, I always thought town/community comps are the way to go. Not to profit one bloke. -
I've just been informed her party will be a fluoro and punk party hmmmm Pork and Cider sounds so much more appealing I hope she doesn't see this!

Absolutely. You actually going to have a go somewhere this year?

Sure, Send money

Competition event resume please. You've got 3 within an hours drive Mick mid year. Way more than the folks on this thread. Really hope that changes for WA.
-
All good, But comps are not what got me to where I am and nor shall they define me.
-
Getting silly, If I could get a leg in I would. Not training kid sport this year so who knows.
-
There are always opportunities to fill in on established teams to compete when folks can't make the roster. A big one to be announced soon for Burleigh. Stay current on social. They come up!

Here, the KCBS CBJ (Certified BBQ Judge) course is usually $65, and that includes your 1 year KCBS Membership. It is then $35/year for Membership. Most KCBS Competitions you cannot judge unless you are a current Member. BBQ Competition in the last 7-10 years here has exploded...when I joined KCBS, my CBJ# is 5382...I think the current judges are in the 70,000...just to give you an example.

Wazza, ABA ran a judges course here in Perth, in November. Cant see another one being run here for a while.
They occur at every sancioned event. Would you like to be trained Diva?
Courtesy of the ABA we are looking to train 12 forum members for ABA judging the next time a Senior Judge is over here which will probably be tied in to an event. Once you have done the course that's it you are a registered judge for life. Anyone interested in doing the course please yell out.
Cheers, Wayne
