Hey Wayne. The boys should gerry up a Rotisserie for that!
Hey Wayne. The boys should gerry up a Rotisserie for that!
No Gas guys going to run on heatbeads or charcoal.
The Offset/firebox idea has legs and we're going to look into building something along that line. A chimney will probably end up on the left hand end. Want to give it a burn and see what it needs.
A rottiserie is definitely on the cards for it.
Still waiting to get some fuel but hopefully it'll be here soon so we can give her a test run!
Cheers, Wayne
Progress has been a bit slow but a couple more bits today......
Some handles for the lid.
An old towel rail for a dual purpose handle.
Clint has started on the offset firebox.
A bit unorthodox as it's going to sit underneath the BBQ rather than alongside. Not sure how well it'll work but we'll give it a shot!
This is an interesting build.....loving it.
great stuff a roti attachment would be ace
That looks great Wayne!
and when are these talented stainless craftsmen in Perth next and can they be paid in ale? top work love these pics
See you working hard out there Smithy love it, is it staying onboard or you working out a way to fit it into your bbq hut
Wow! Good fabrication is so fun to watch!
Have most of the Men had true hardwood BBQ? Wait, you said it was gonna be heatbeds...were you able to get any hardwood to put on it?
Unfortunately Bentley all we could get hold of was the robot turd type of compressed charcoal and some woodchips from one of those small boxes they sell in the BBQ shops for ridiculous prices. On the up side the boss has given the ship a 2 hour break to stand around and eat some bbq and drink a few cans of NO alcohol beer. ( Can it be even be called beer?) I reckon you'd look up your grannies dress if you'd drink that!
On the up side, the Q is easy to drive and holds temp pretty well. It needs a small hot fire running and keeping it the right size is easier than trying to throttle the heat using the vent/ash drawer to limit the air flow. Dont know that it would ever take over from a proper offset but making use of what was going to be chucked in the scrap metal bin has got the ship a pretty good smoker bbq and you have to love that
Oh, and tro answer your original question, some of the guys on here are from the States and have pits at home. Even trailer rigs that they use for catering and comps so feeling a tad intimidated atm !!
Cheers, Wayne
wow bbq is looking great. Just got hunger pains looking at that.
Have you got some sort of shield / diffuser above the fire pit? With the fire being under is there a real hot spot?
Looks awesome.
is it a dry ship all the time?
That Q looks fantastic. I'm really hungry now.
