I'd agree with that. I don't grill in the DC either, even though it's set up for that and getting a set of Grill Grates hot would certainly go through the pellets.
But they are great on any gas BBQ and of course, the kamado.

You read my mind exactly what I am doing tonight.
Reverse sear from DB (smoke) to Kamado grill grates
I did read the note above that Chris was unable to stock any other than the GMG ones.
That was the case when BBQs Galore had the rights for Australia, Now Hark are the Australian distributor, the first shipment of all sizes arrived early this week. I'm stocking the entire range now
Here's the funny part they miss quoted me the price of $70 (should be $109). Yes they admitted it and owned the mistake.
Yes, they had the Kamado set on sale at just over half price two weeks ago to get rid of their stock
You got a good deal being in the right place at the right time!
Thanks Chris.
I don't feel guilty now.
All of the BBQ G stores do not have any stock (or very little) in Brisbane.
Yes I think I was extremely lucky.
Not sure if I should post this here or in the charcoal section, I picked up the large kamado set yesterday from BBQG with their 25% off sale and the two radius cut panels with one straight panel fit perfectly in my old 22.5" weber.
Last night to christen them I tried to cook a flat chook and some grilled zucchini slices, I used a chimney of heat beads spread out under the three grates but that seemed a bit cool and I couldn't get a good sear on the zucchini (I'll admit that they went on after the chook.) My mates had a set in his gasser for ages and I saw them at BBQ school so know what they are capable of.
Does anyone have some suggestions / starting points on how much fuel to use in a kettle and the best way to arrange the fuel? The fire seemed to cool down pretty quickly, would I be better off getting some charcoal baskets?
Until my grates were well seasoned i found them a little underwhelming and almost gave them away. Perserverence was key. Now they are hotter than the sun and give everything that awesome steakhouse grill mark.
a chimney full of beads spread out on the weber would be quite a thin layer? I imagine you would want more heat than that under them.
Grill grates reversed make an awesome skillet too.
I wouldnt worry about the charcoal baskets.
One chimney of beads probably wasn't enough.
I would definitely get a set of baskets. I used them all the time in my kettle and for a really hot fire, fill them up and place them together in the centre, flat sides touching.

Chris do you carry a size that will fit my YS1500? They'd need to be fairly long.
What size grillgrate would be recommended for a ziggy twin?
Im not sure on the size of the ziggy twin but give it a measure, there are pretty good pics with sizes above. If they fit the space or under they will work. Ive used mine on my Q2000
If they are too big, you can simply cut them down. I have a set made for the Big Green Egg and use a couple in the Ziggy portable.
