Certainly, just thought I'd get the 'hang' of it first......sorry.

I like the smaller deflector, I have a cast iron pot I use for Cobb loaves, the lid from that makes a great mini deflector.
Great colour on that bird. Must have been awesome eating!
The skin was especially divine

It certainly looked it!
I'm still playing around with different set ups in the Royal kamado and wanted to get one where I could use the heat deflector and have a bit more room for the spuds. That way I can ramp up the heat without burning the lot.
First off, the deflector sits directly on top of the fire box.
Then, the outer gril ring of the hanger sits directly on top of that.
Next, I placed the ss dish in the centre which means the outer edges of the dish are slightly raised above the deflector.
On to that goes the kamado grill, placed so that the holes for the hanger are accessible for the hanger ring to locate properly.
Because the spuds and pumpkin now have nice airflow underneath, they cook more evenly.
Total cook time was one hour at 200c. The chook was rubbed with Oakridge Chicken and Pork rub about 5 hours prior to cooking.
That's a good idea. That way you have the chicken juices baste the veggies and you have space around the edges to cook other things, eg chicken wings.
Nice work, I'll have to try that on mine. I thought I did try and put the hanger directly on the deflector which was on the firebox and it didn't fit. Will try again.
It only just made it on mine. in fact the lid just touched the hanger as it came to the closed position but not enough to stop it closing properly. I had the chook high up on the rod too. If you are a touch too high, I can't see any problem with cutting a small bit off the hanger loop to lower it a smidgen.

When I was tossing up whether to buy one and wondering if it would fit under the dome I figured I could just hacksaw some off the ends of the hanging loop rod if it was too high after Gump explained the screw things on the grill was where it slotted in.
I've been experiment cooking two chooks at a time with the hanger.
I added some extra hooks on the loop wire at the top to connect the duck hangers.
Below is using duck hangers
I used three anchor points to hold the chook.
In other experiments I used a single meat hook. It worked but you had to watch you didn't overcook the chook as the hook would rip out and the chook would fall.
My hanger does not fit really well in my Akorn and will need some shorting, would be more happy if it could fit on the deflector plate but then its to wide bugger

I managed to do this on the Akorn. It sits on top of the firebox.
It just fits.
I've really got to make way down to Chris' and pick one of these up!

I Have tried that but it seems a bit wonky but maybe with the weight of a fat chook it will sit better will try this week end
