Thanks guys, sounds like Bunnings is going to be a good place to have a walk around at the weekend to find some replacements.

Great thanks!

Follow up on earlier part of thread re lid springs.
The springs on the Char griller ceramic kamado that bunnings sells look to be same size as my Royal kamado spring, can order at special orders desk, $3.42 for a 2 pack.

StewieThanks Stewie, you wouldn't happen to know a part number or even the dimensions of the springs at all? I had a look at the stock springs in Bunnings and nothing was quite right

StewieI just went and picked mine up from Bunnings, the person on the special order desk assured me that each packet only had 1 spring in so I ordered 4 and have now got 8 springs haha all good I've got a lifetime supply of springs.
Just popped the old ones off but I'm having a hard time getting the new ones on, any tips for getting the springs onto the posts?

An engineer type mate suggested using circlip pliers to open spring and hook on.
Haven't tried, only picked up springs this morning.

That's a great idea, just looking around online and another guy suggested slotting coins in between the coils to make the spring a bit longer so you can clip the spring on then when you close the lid the coins fall out, just tried and I can't even get the coins in between the coils

I remember had a lot of trouble getting the new spring on. I think I ended up with a large flat screw driver trying to wedge the end open. Or tie some string to the bottom hook and pull it down, then cut off when it's attached. The lid should be open when you do it too, not shut, so you will need to make sure it's chocked open with something so it doesn't slam shut.
Removing the bands might be another way to try.

Ok so I got the springs on, took 15 seconds each one once I'd figured out how to do it, the string method is by far the easiest, hook the spring on the top, run some string / para cord through the bottom then you can fairly easily pull down the bottom of the spring and use the string to clip it in place, then just pull the string out:

Wow those news springs have made a huge difference, before I had to orientate the kamado so it was leaning backwards slightly so that when the lid was open it wouldn't come crashing down, with the new springs on the lid springs open and stays solid, much better!

I found exactly the same, even though I've only replaced one spring so far. Much more stable when moving the kamado with the lid open.

Did you use the string method to replace the springs?

From memory I used the screwdriver. The string was something I thought of later.

Cheers Chris, id definitely recommend doing that for anyone that's having trouble keeping the lid open!
Ok the part number that you need to quote to the special order desk is:
K55CGSP13
I can confirm that there are two springs in each pack, not one as quoted by the staff member
