Just picked up an Akorn today so I have an afternoon of assembly ahead by the looks. I've been cooking on a Weber kettle for a while now and a Green Mountain before that so hopefully I'll transition across alright. Looking forward to getting her fired up for some low and slow.
I love my Akorn or Dragon

Was pretty simple to put it all together so gave it a good burn off yesterday arvo and gave it a test run with a simple pizza. Pretty happy overall with the unit so far.

Nice one. And that one hell of a beard mate.

+1...

Nice backyard too. Where are you?

Hahaha, a work in progress, I've only been growing it for 3 years, always clean shaven before that.
Pretty impressed with the Akorn so far. I don't know if they've improved their quality control or if I just got lucky, but this thing doesn't leak an ounce of smoke and holds temps like a dream. After we cooked the pizza I closed off the top and bottom vents and left it to do it's thing. In the morning she was cold and I relit the charcoal that was left on the tray and cooked breakfast on it. From what I've read they generally don't seal that well when new.

We are not far from Gin Gin, Qld. Bought ourselves a little block there about 2 and half years ago and slowly turning it into our piece of paradise.

Need to update that signature as well to include that Akorn.

And remove that damn GMG...
Will get right on to that.

Didn't know Qld had a Gin Gin, WA also has a town called Gin Gin.

Would have kept the GMG as well. You can't have too many BBQs.

It was a nice machine, don't get me wrong, just let me down one too many times so I sold it while it was still worth a few dollars. Hark was good with the warranty support, just didn't like that feeling when you've got your meat all prepped and your pit won't fire up.

I have never had a problem with mine.
I actually struggle a little with the Akorn Jr in terms of keeping temps under control.
-
I had igniter issues, a failed temp sensor and some software issue that I can't remember the details of. Like I said, Hark was awesome with the warranty support, just didn't want to continue down that road so changed over to a Weber.
