First off I wanna say sorry for not buying off ya Chris (UG) but with circumstances of picking up, freight etc I was gonna be waiting awhile for the hark texas pro pit.
After getting the fact sheet off the bbq galore pro smoke I decicided to bite the bullet sight unseen an crossed me fingers....Free delivery was chucked in with the $999.00
purchase price an apart from the delivery guy nearly squashing himself as he fell over dragging 105 kg's of box up me steps all good
Very happy with the pit, holds temp 10x better than the COS available (BBQ galore, Bunnings) and well worth the coin even tho I had a few doubts.
Just wanted to say this incase other blokes were in the same posi as me with logistic dramas but may have a bbq galore store handy (rural, regional areas)
So apologies again Chris for the stuff around but really appreciate the fast service for me new thermo gauge!
Anyway, happy with the pit, so any questions from those that cant pick up a hark from Urban Grilla feel free to ask. -

That one looks similar to the Hark Tri Fire.

That looks pretty reasonable for the price Lynchy I like the bling!
-
its good to see more offsets enter the market and good to see BBQ Galore taking them a bit more seriously. Their other cheapo offset is terrible from what I saw of it in store. This one looks much sturdier
-
Oh, you've gone the the dark side, an evil stick burner. @Bentley Meredith, any advice for someone going to the dark side?
Enjoy man, great looking bbq.

Sort of mate, bout the same size as the pro pit, sort of like the flaming coals texas too.
I think the main differences are obviously shes a single door but also no adjustable firebox door (I use a rock as a chock )

Cheer's mate! Very happy. Ive seen those beaut laser cut signs but thought nah go a belt buckle
Bonus was the pro smoke badge had pre drilled holes so I just swapped em over using 50 mm stainless bolts.
I'm glad I didnt have to drill anymore holes in her as the grill thermos near stuffed me drill bits! I might have to invest in a stepped bit if I ever put
a spit attachment on her.

Yep mate, that ranchero? was bout the same as the bunnings, ebay jobbies.
Still, great way to test the waters for this style of cooking. I cooked all me meat for a month on that chargriller delux, tending the fire every 1/2 hr or so
and loved it so made the decision. This needs a look every hour or so (10x better in me top post might have been a slight exageration )
Definately good to see some mid price offsets and bbq galore should seeing how they're sponsoring heaps of comps on the East coast

Yeah mate, I had to do the Indiana Jones leap of faith but happy as I did.
Made in China (Like the harks n flaming coals) but I think once you start manufacturing over there the designs tend to be nicked n copied.
I aint seen the other 2 either so cant give an exact comparison but reckon they'd all be on par. This was just a few bob cheaper and the only one I had access too
-
Lynchy there are always little differences with the details, and i think this is where you get what you pay for saying comes from.
The cheaper ones are just copying known brand tried tested and developped ideas and features without knowing exactly whay they are there. Some times they get it right but other times not quite. The material thickness and build quality of the BBqs galore Pro smoke is really good and with the mods and personal touches to make it your own you cant go wrong.
Not get cooking and lets see the results good luck and hats off to the stick burner brigade. -
Will do mate, chicken thighs and beef ribs today. Managed to offload 1\2 a pork belly to me Mum as shes had a hankering for crackle lately
Bonus as I get to cook today!
Couple of other differences are no drop down front prep table (although it is easy to remove or put back)
No second thermo (but ya need a grill temp not top of pit temp anyway) The flaming coals texas has one at grill and 2 in the lids.
Both this model and the FC texas have 2 probe holes with flaps.
Will do a progressive cook post with pics when I get home from Ma's joint
Cheers!

Just a quick update, bought a stepped drillbit to install the stock temp gauge that came with the unit above the grill on the chimney side. UG's temp gauge took the place of the original. I'm getting a 10f-15f difference with no mods so well happy. Tuning plates that come with it are obviously a bonus and working!
Got pork ribs in at the mo and trying the grillmaster rubs (chipotle n roast garlic, smokin' texas ) Theyre on spesh at coles apparently. -

And that's the right way to have your gauges....turned so the target temp is at 12 o'clock, then you can see at a glance from across the room if you are on target, over or under!
-
Great place to learn this joint is mate, cheers for all the help from the SF&F pitmasters!!!
-
A small mod to stop me having to crack the ash tray or chock the lid as she lives on a wooden deck (albeit on a bbq mat)
Had some spare vents in the box left over from the chargriller purchase so thought this may help with flue draft?
Done now, so hope so
Not exactly a professional job but should result in a cleaner burn with more o2 available....Will find out tomorrow with 2 lamb legs to cook for family and friends. -
