I'm wondering if a shut down phase is worth considering ? After a cook is finished, the best way to shut down a ceramic kamado is to have the top vent slightly open for a short time and the bottom vent shut. This lets the fire die slowly, rather than completely shutting both vents while the pit is at a high temp.
If the Smobot had a shut down phase, you could close the bottom vent and let Smobot gradually close itself.
