So over the weekend I reached a big decision, with approval of the minister for finance, went ahead and ordered the Pizza Party 70x70 woodfired oven.
It is a mobile oven very similar to the Maximus.
The oven is not generally available in Australia although I did see a couple on eBay with the seller based in Melbourne.
I contacted the manufacturer directly in Florence Italy, and he was happy to organise freight and delivery at a special price.
Watch this space, I will be posting unboxing and general usage with regular updates.
Pulled the Trigger: Pizza Party 70x70 WFO.

Good stuff. I hope it all goes well with the shipping, they aren't light !
-
Wwith the pending arrival of the oven, i had to prepare for where to place it.
I wasn't too keen on the styling of the stock aluminium bench which looked like this:so i scoured gumtree and ebay and found this instead:
i was thinking of staining the wood with oil for a little weather proofing. then perhaps putting files on the top and bottom shelf.
if anyone has better suggestions, please fire away. -

apparently its only 55kg with the bricks included. however you are right, they do charge by volume (cubic weight) on aircraft but i think the manufacturers have some kind of special deal with DHL or whoever it is they use.

So that will do about four 12 inch at a time with the fire?

The table looks perfect. I didn't get the trolley with mine and it just sits on an outdoor table until i get around to making one.

probably only 2 at the most. 70x70 refers to the size in cm.
with my skill level though, managing 1 pizza at a time is the aim -

i actually asked the guy who makes the trolley/bench to add castor wheels on the left side so i can move it around as needed.. like a wheelbarrow. he said no problem! i was so thankful. only changed an extra $15 on top of the bench ($165 total).

Thats a great deal on a solid bench!
It's not worth me buying the tools, materials for that kind of money! -
70x70 refers to the outside measurements in cm.
the internal measurements are only 60x60 cm or 23.6x23.6 inches. So its definitely on the smaller side in terms of woodfire ovens. however the way i see it, the plus outweigh the negatives: preheat times are 20mins, less wood usage and the biggest plus of all - max temps of 550 ºC – 1022 ºF as quoted by the manufacturers themselves.

It's not worth me buying the tools, materials for that kind of money!granted the actual bench and shelf is only MDF.
but i plan to seal it with paint/oil. then add tiles for aesthtics purposes.
all the rest is solid wood. -
Anything you can do to protect the MDF will be worth while. It handles moisture better than chipboard.
I used to make stereo panels from MDF and fiberglass, a coat of FG resin does wonders. -

I put a sheet of tile underlay under mine and left a bit sticking out the front.

So roughly 28 x 28 inches...yeah 4 aint gonna happen with a fire, but you will have no issue with 2!

You just have to eat a bit slower!
You've got enough space in your back yard Bentley to build a nice one!

Kind of cramped, where would I ever find room?

You could keep fit just walking to your BBQ

That's fantastic, I can't wait to see it in action!
Congratulations moy!but you will have no issue with 2!
What I've found is that whatever the size of the oven, if there's only one person making the pizzas it's almost impossible to cook more than one at a time when they only take 60 to 90 seconds in the oven. In Italian pizzerias you'll often see one person preparing and another manning the oven. To do it on your own and have two cooking simultaneously you'd need to prepare right next to the oven and be able to to do it in under 45 seconds

Love the bench. I wonder if you'd be able to pick-up a cheap slab of granite or marble second hand from a leftover of a kitchen renovation? You could then possibly prepare the dough next to the oven?
-
i was thinking of tiling the bench, but now that you've mentioned granite or marble.. i may have to recheck gumtree. thanks!
