So the question is: When are you planning to launch your first pizza into the PP?
-
this weekend for sure.
i was this close deciding to go pull a sickie today though LOL -
Unwrapped this baby last night, very well packed. The arrangement of the bricks were in such a way that it acted as a shield against possible knocks during the transportation. It is coming all the way from Italy after all...
-
All the metal surface had a 'contact' film covering for protection.
-
Assembling the bricks was a non-event. gaps between bricks were easy to minimise using a screwdriver and a bit of elbow grease.
I like how there is a layer of insulation blanket below the bricks. That should help with heat loss and provide protection from the tiles on the bench. -
the finish on the upgraded glass window door is impeccable. the fit against the door opening is very precise too. It appears the logo has been etched.
-
the thermometer gauge is quite secure in that hole. i was expecting it to have lots of movement and play. i was wrong. i might leave it here on the right side instead of the left. according to their website the oven's max recommended temp is 550C. I'll stay within 350-400c myself thank you very much.
-
one of my favourite features: a metal strip along the bottom opening. helps against scratching from the pizza peel, as well as the door. The door has two pronged legs so you can crack it open whilst cooking
here is what the door looks like. notice the legs that enable it to be cracked open as necessary. it works surprisingly well (photo lifted from another website, not my own)
-
normally the oven comes with a standard door. but i ordered the upgraded glass window door instead, not realising they will include the regular door too. nice surprise. it also comes standard with a heat shield.
-
after about an hour of assembly, here is what she looks like.
in hindsight, i should have ordered the longer 150x80cm bench to give me more real estate on the right hand side. but i suppose this will have to do. there's still space there for cooking items. i am considering getting one of those "island kitchen benches" to supplement my bench.
-
Looking forward to seeing the first fire.
-
I think the dog wants some pizza

Yep, it looks really good! You are going to have a heap of fun with that!!!
-
fire test. Apparently a 1hr low fire (no more than 200C) is necessary prior to the first cook.
I only managed 25mins as i ran out of
woodDoes that mean i need to start again next time or can i just do the remaining 35mins i wonder????

Yep start again and do the full hour. Do you have a good source of wood?
-
no source of wood yet. i only used the wooden pallet that this oven came with. firewood bags in petrol stations ok? it has the wording "hardwood" on the bag.
